The Book of Blood
- Three boards: Red Crit (your highest critical hit), Boss Kills (the fastest kill of Grathmaw, Maligast and Skugarth on Normal, Hard and Nightmare, solo or in a group) and Road to 50 (the fastest time played online from a new hero to level 50).
- Fair brackets: heroes are ranked against their own class and level band, so a level 12 Berserker never competes with a level 50 one. Road to 50 has a Solo and a Fellowship bracket for friends who level together.
- This week and all time: every board keeps a weekly ranking that resets on Monday, and an all-time ranking that never does.
- Your place: the Book shows your rank, how many heroes you beat and your tier: Blooded, Red-Handed, Crimson or Heartblood.
- New records: when you set a new best, climb the board or take first place, a banner slides down at the top of the screen. It waits until a fight or a cutscene is over.
- Hide from the boards: you can choose to keep your heroes off the public boards and still see your own ranks.
- Online records only: records are set in online sessions, in co-op or with Open to friends switched on, and they are checked by our servers. Only heroes created online can enter the boards; heroes brought over from your PC play as before but don't appear on them. A carried run does not count for Road to 50.
Always Online
- A new main menu: press PLAY, choose your hero or make a new one, and START. The old host and join screens and join codes are gone.
- Every game is online: your hero always plays on our servers. Leave OPEN TO FRIENDS on (Settings or the Esc menu) to let your friends drop in, or switch it off to play alone. Join a friend from your Friends list (O) by their name tag.
- All your heroes come with you: the first time you press PLAY, every hero on your PC is brought online. Your local saves are kept as a backup. If a hero can't be brought over, the hero screen tells you why and lets you try again.
- If the servers can't be reached, the game tells you plainly and lets you try again.
Online
- Play on: a new setting under Settings > Gameplay lets you choose to host your sessions in Europe or the US, or leave it on Auto. Friends can always join you, wherever they play from.
- Server status: the title screen and the launcher now tell you plainly when our servers are busy or down.
Known Issues
- The record banner uses a simple frame for now; its final artwork arrives in a coming update.
