AI as a creative tool
AI is part of the development process. I use it to support the work and explore possibilities, while I make the decisions about what belongs in the game.
I'm Martin Thomsen, better known online as MartyGameDK. I'm the solo developer behind Crawling Darkness, working from just outside Aarhus, Denmark.
Crawling Darkness is a personal project, developed through a hobby business. Today, I am its only developer: the person bringing its world, gameplay and updates together.
The project previously received help from Nordic Wolf Studios. I've since continued independently, and I now develop Crawling Darkness on my own. Nordic Wolf Studios is no longer involved in the project.
Working solo means making choices about where to spend time, what to try next and how to turn an ambitious idea into something people can play. The game grows through that process, alongside the feedback of the people exploring it.
My approach combines hands-on development with AI, open source tools and a willingness to try unconventional strategies. These are practical ways to explore ideas, solve problems and keep a solo project moving.
AI is part of the development process. I use it to support the work and explore possibilities, while I make the decisions about what belongs in the game.
Open source tools are part of my toolkit. They make room for learning, experimentation and finding approaches that fit the needs of a small independent project.
I try new methods, bring ideas into the game and improve them through play and feedback. The aim is always to make Crawling Darkness a better experience.
There may be one developer behind the game, but you don't have to explore its world alone. Join the community, share what you discover and help shape what comes next.
